XTA born in 1992, when Andrew Grayland and his partner John Austin decided to found the company. Having  overseen many of the benchmark products produced by KT, both felt that DSP (digital signal processing) technology  could find a home at the heart of PA systems.

Hard work, innovation, creativity and a professional team are behind the great work of Andrew and John and as a  result a large range of professional audio products for live sound. XTA and Space Ibiza have had a close relationship.

XTA have been making audio processors for over 21 years, the design philosophy, innovation and sonic integrity behind the benchmark 2 series and 4 series products remains at the heart of the APA amplifier. XTA have a close relationship with Funktion One and Space, the APA amplifier is a innovative improvement to the clubbing experience.

XTA have supported Space, Funktion One, Pro Audio Ibiza and DMT with the first use of APA at Space this summer, Richard Fleming, XTA Sales & Application Manager is interviewed below to tell us more about the Space Closing Fiesta 2015.

1. About XTA

Basically we are kind of very interested in getting the best of this sound using the best converters that we can get so it is a real pleasure to come out here and, basically, road-test our new APA amplifier. What we found is that, it really is sort of just so much better than anything that we have used in the past and it is a nice compilation and, you know, a very big power amplifier and the XAD. Is what people have been using and loved for years.

2. What keeps XTA being at the top?

Alright, I did a similar interview to this last year and the parting sentence of that was “Passion pays off” and actually, I mean was off the cuff but it really does and this is, you know, the last party of the season so it really does, passion pays off.

3. XTA new products

We’ve got an amplifier and the big thing about our APA amplifier is the delivery of power for a sustained period of time. Other amplifiers only deliver the power that it says for a short period, but we deliver for hours, which is, on an event like this, we are just kicking off now...it is four o’clock in the afternoon and we are going until two in the morning. You want it to sound the same at four in the afternoon as two in the morning and that’s we are all about.

4. XTA & Space Ibiza

I think you got, you know, a clientele which demands something that is a little bit special, something better than everywhere else, and that is what XTA is all about. There is a great synergy between Space, XTA and also our sister company MC Square.

Camilo Franco: A look back

Camilo Franco is undoubtedly one of the greatest representatives of Balearic Tech House and possibly an artist with most international expansion in recent years.

Throughout this year, his exclusive sets at major festivals such as Ultra Music Festival in Miami and BigCityBeats World Club Dome in Frankfurt, with more than 100.000 attendees each, lit up spring for Camilo. A large list of other festivals and international clubs such as: Colors Festival in Helsinki, Life & Foxtail of Las Vegas, Clara Club of Tel Aviv and Buddha Bar Mykonos, are only a few names added to the list of cities and clubs where his beats have been heard.

However, just any good deejay, Camilo held a residence every Wednesday for the 2015 season at Space Ibiza. Raw Change, is what the most transgressive party Space offered was called.

Taking advantage of the summer season, Camilo along with his sponsor, Bench, headlined Tuesdays on Ibiza Global Radio during summer 2015 with guest artists such as, Kurd Maverick, Reboot and Tapesh among others.

In addition to his residency in Ibiza and countless gigs around the world, Camilo also had time to bring to light some productions like “Once and for all” in collaboration with the Dutch René Arnesz, which was presented by Pete Tong on his program featured on BBC Radio 1. Soundcloud - Camilo Franco "Once and for all"

To top off a season of unprecedented success, Camilo Franco had his moment of parting with a special magical set for the world famous Space Closing Fiesta. The evening was accompanied by an enthusiastic audience, which together with the strength of the decks, Camilo closed a season hard to beat.

Definitely, 2015 was a great year for Camilo Franco, resident DJ at Space Ibiza. Follow him on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep up with his recent performances and productions.

Funktion One has been designing and building high quality speakers since 1992, the year when Tony Andrews and his partner John Newsham decided to found the company.

Behind their career there is a long history of hard work, passion and innovation that it has positioned the company as world’s number one in the audio industry. Funktion One and Space Ibiza have had a close relationship for more than 11 years now, both always squeezing the full potential of the two brands to offer a unique sound experience.

We have the opportunity to interview Mike Igglesden (Funktion One Design Engineer) during the set up for the Space Closing Fiesta to find out what are the secrets that have made Funktion One a reference in the industry.

1. What makes Funktion One one of the best speaker manufacturer in the industry?

I think it's because we focus on getting the best sound quality that we can. One of the fundamental points is that our loudspeakers are a horn-loaded point source design. With our systems you aim the speakers where you want the sound to go, and very little sound goes anywhere else. They are also very high efficiency which means high conversion of amplifier energy into acoustic output which makes them very responsive and detailed. Another aspect is that we like to use low distortion paper cone drivers for the for the mid-range frequencies. This results in a very natural and organic sound. Our mid-range approach means that we only use metallic compression drivers for the very high frequencies. Form follows function, which has led our designs to have an instantly recognisable appearance. We constantly aim to deliver the best possible sonic audience experiences, which has all led to the popularity and widespread recognisability of our sound systems.

027 Ana Rdv sponsors SpaceIbiza2. What is Funktion One’s corporate philosophy?

Pursuit of sonic perfection. Always trying to get it as acoustically accurate as we can, that is the absolute fundamental.

3. Which new products were delivered for the Space Closing Fiesta?

Our newly developed Evolution 7 Loudspeakers were used in the car park. We have been developing the mechanics of our 10" mid-range speaker and combining it with a new horn loading. We think that we have got somewhere very special with that and is what the new product is based around. Above the 10" horn is a new 1.4" compression driver that provides very sparkly high frequencies, and below the 10" is a new horn loaded 15" for the mid bass frequencies.

The new 10" is able to produce a very wide frequency range. As almost half of all the acoustic range is coming from one component which makes the sound very together and coherent. The horn loading also projects the sound which makes it ideal for the carpark stage. The 15" below that is very musical, yet pack a lot of punch. Sometimes, in other systems, I feel this frequency range is not emphasised enough and the bass feels very separate to the rest of the music. We are very happy with the results of the 15" as it provides great impact to the kick drum, nice tone to the upper bass, and warmth to male vocals.

Another new product that has been used this year is the BR221 bass speaker. In the car park and the main room we have been using the F221's for years. These are very punchy and fantastic at throwing the low frequencies long distances. Long throw is not always required, so we developed the BR221's and installed them in the Terrace. The F221's lend them self very well to the main room where the room is deep and the music tends to be high intensity techno music. In the terrace, the room is not so deep and is more of a relaxing dance floor where the music tends to be more house orientated. The BR221's are front loaded and therefore make a very deep and plush near-field sound. We are very happy with the results and think that they have been well received.

4. Would you say that Space Ibiza is your sonic laboratory?

There's always been a very close relationship between Space and Funktion-One. We have both developed together over the last 11 years and I think it has been a very mutually beneficial relationship. Space has a reputation for being a fantastic club with fantastic sound and it has been a great place to try new products and ideas because we know the club so well and it has many varied environments. Being able to work with such a prestigious club, with such a great team and continue to develop our technology has been both valuable and enjoyable.

Sharam and Dubfire gave the best of themselves on their only date of the season in Ibiza as Deep Dish. The Space Closing Fiesta was chosen event by the duo to spin the remixes that have given them so much worldwide fame.

Erick Morillo round 2

If anyone knows how to control the energy of the audience, that’s Erick Morillo. His second performance of the night was marked by various House hits and other hits of the nineties such as, ‘I Like to Move It’.

Carl Cox b2b Nic Fanciulli

A total classic of the Closings are the back to backs between Carl Cox and Nic Fanciulli. From 6am and until noon, the pair of aces infected their good vibes through great timeless songs that are already part of the history of Techno and House.

A sunrise to remember

Witnessing the sunrise on the Terraza of Space Ibiza is an experience that should be lived at least once in your life. When the sun began to creep through the small upper windows of the room, those present were teleported to the legendary Terrace of the late 90s and early 2000s which became the center for afterhours worldwide.

Even the employees dance at Space Ibiza

The Space Ibiza team said goodbye to summer 2015 celebrating the Space Closing Fiesta in style. Once finished with work and taking advantage of the sunrise, many staff members got on top of the bar, danced and enjoyed the moment with their colleagues for one last time. They deserved it!

The winner of last year’s Red Bull Residency enjoyed a unique opportunity to Space Ibiza to further reinforce his career within the industry. With a 2 hours set we realized that this young musician has a great future ahead.

Ramon Castells and Paul Reynolds, two classics

What would a closure of Space Ibiza be without two of its most classic figures? Ramon Castells and Paul Reynolds returned to be present on such an important night. The Funky sound reigned in their sessions, giving the best Motown sound to Premier Etage.

coolMachines, passion on the turntables

The duo made up of Jorge Moreno and Moy Santana is beginning to be recognized throughout the island. The guys from Valencia showed us during their session in the Salón there extensive knowledge of the current underground music sphere. That and the passion that distilled their set, they were certainly one of the most remarkable performances of the night in the Salón.

Federico Grazzini

One of the new icons of Italian electronica closed the room. Eclectic and amazing, Federico Grazzini is already a recognizable figure in the Ibiza scene.

A different environment

If anything characterized the party in these two rooms was the uninhibited and liberal atmosphere that lived in them. The Premier Etage and incredible views along the famous yellow tubular chair, and the Salón with its very particular aesthetic essence, proposed a different party to all those who came by.
