Full On Ibiza is not for you. If on the contrary you like to jump, dance, feel excited, raise your hands and have fun… Welcome to Monday at Space Ibiza!

The genius of Rotterdam, Ferry Corsten, next to Cazzete and House South Brothers were responsible for repeating the electrifying experience on the island this past Monday, August 10th. The lightning ray of Full On returned to shine with its own light at the Terrace of the Club at Playa den Bossa. Energetic beats, passion behind the decks and the characteristic atmosphere filled with “good vibes” was the dominant theme of the night.

The duo House South Brothers returned to show that on stage there are no secrets for them. Famous for mixing the freshest Tech-House with touches of rock, were the perfect start to the evening. Their show filled us with optimism, joy and desire to dance.

When Ferry Corsten arrived to the DJ booth of the club, the fuse to this party was already lit thank to the work of HSB. From the beginning, the DJ and producer had it pretty clear, Trance, Trance and more Trance.  With an hour and a half set many knew very little and that is when you’re dancing nonstop time runs at an impressive rate. With his permanent smile throughout his set, Ferry welcomed Cazzette.

Creators of such tracks like Sleepless and Blind Heart, Alexander Björklund and Sebastian Furrer are better known as Cazzette. To the delight of many in their two-hour set we heard their new release Together. A fun session where more than on occasion Ferry co-starred in the DJ booth with them.

While the excitement spread through the Terrace of Space Ibiza, a DJ, Ramon Castells, and one dance area, la Sunset Terrace, gave the counterpoint to the evening. With more than a 7 hour set, the resident gave a great session in this open air area of the club.

The tenth party ended as it began, with the desire to want more. If you do not want to miss it, buy your tickets for Clandestin pres. Full On Ibiza. Space Ibiza is waiting for you every Monday to start the week in the best way possible.

1.21.41.11.3We spend much of our lives waiting. For true love, the dream job, for the friend who’s typically late… But there is something that arrives on time every Saturday: elrow-Kehakuma. The most exciting and cutting-edge party on the island will never fail, it will always be there to cheer-up your night.

Smiles and more smiles. Happiness reigned in the Main Room of elrow where the ‘The Singermornings’ show occupied every corner of the room. With the familiar red sunglasses and the endless desire to see the guest DJs, attendees mingled in an atmosphere of madness where good cheer was the prevailing sentiment.

Mario Biani and his commitment to Techno House at more BPMs than the usual stood as the perfect welcome. At 1:30am one special guest took the stage that many did not expect: Eats Everything. The Englishman ate up the dancefloor with his excellent command of the electronic genre and received a more positive response from the audience.

Then it was time for the Brits, Richy Ahmed and Russ Yallop. Their back to back brought out the strongest points of every DJ seeking that the Deep House genre was the sound that dominated the set. They did not miss the last remix of ‘Back in the Dark’ by Di Chiara Brothers and produced by Yallop. Finally, the most rowero flow returned in the hand of Toni Vargas, making the closing the perfect farewell for the singermornings.

The collaborations were the protagonists of Kehakuma. Javi Bora and Jose De Divina opened the Terraza with more confidence than ever. It is noted that this season they have performed several times together and their great harmony was appreciated in the session.

At about 2:45am, the Tiefschwarz brothers joined Khan to deliver a compelling live performance in that riskier melodies were heard at night. Among them, ‘Do Me’, their collaborative track that launched in May and has excellent depth in the scene.

They say the third time’s the charm. For Steve Bug and Josh Wink that saying means nothing because they always win. After their two previous performances at Kehakuma, we could say that this was one of his most powerful performances. The most crude and organic Techno rang late into the morning, exciting the demanding clubbers that were present.

Surrounded by elrow games and characters, KER at the Sunset Terrace reaffirmed his distinguished musical selection thanks to Ion Pananides, Alex Pot and Solvane & Wasted Ruffians

Now you have to wait until next Saturday, August 15th to dance to the rhythm of Fritz Kalkbrenner, Joris Voorn and Victor Calderone. Buy your tickets already for elrow-Kehakuma at Space Ibiza!

Tuesdays belong to Carl Cox

Carl Cox Opening 07 2015 by Nel G 85Carl Cox Opening 07 2015 by Nel G 7Carl Cox Opening 07 2015 by Nel G 35

The Machine that is The Next Phase Carl Cox's Music is Revolution party at Space Ibiza steam rolled to another sold out show last night. Festivities began with Monika Kruse on the Sunset Terrace and by midnight Space was ready to lift off. The Main Room filled within minutes of opening as revelers were treated to a trademark Matthias Tanzmann performance. Quality from start to finish, the Moon Harbour label boss had the room heaving by the time Eats Everything took to the stage. Eats Everything followed suit with relentless display of big room Techno that has become the hallmark of his Space performances.

Andrea Oliva opened the Terrace and wasted no time in getting proceedings underway. He cut right to the chase in terms of mixing and track selection. The vibes on the dance floor were nothing short of amazing as the legend that is Sasha took to the DJ booth. Sasha didn't disappoint fans as he delivered another textbook performance in the art of DJing. Terminal M boss Monika Kruse closed the Terrace with another dance floor shredding performance.

You could almost taste the electricity in the air as the Discoteca anticipated the arrival of Carl Cox to the DJ booth. Eats Everything had the dance floor Jackin' for the king to take centre stage. "Oh Yes, oh yes Space Ibiza, are you ready?", I'm not sure anyone can truly be prepared for a Carl Cox set. His charisma, energy and passion for DJing thundered through the Funktion One sound system. An exceptional display of skill and craftsmanship by Cox from start to finish.

For those of us who are lucky enough to experience this on a regular basis, it almost becomes normal or standard. But it isn't. This is something truly special. For anyone studying the game of electronic music this is where you education should commence. If you want to see how it is done at the highest level, go to Carl Cox at Space Ibiza on Tuesdays. End of transmission.

Carl Cox, Heidi, Marco Bailey and many more artists will play at Space Ibiza next 11th August. Buy your tickets and don’t miss it!

Luciano goes back to his roots at Vagabundos

vagabundos 2015 08 02 Cvagabundos 2015 08 02 Dvagabundos 2015 08 02 EA unique experience for our fans last night in the Sunset Room: Luciano played an exclusive VINYL SET for Vagabundos. The Cadenza head honcho went back to the analogue format, still retaining the power and mixing skills he has always been known for, and showing that he’s clearly not only digital, if there still was some doubt about it.

Great to see the room packed from early on in the evening: this was one event not to be missed, and Luciano himself didn’t disappoint. A selection spanning 30 years of Techno and House Music, and taking in a lot of Cadenza hits and all time favs. Best of all was to see Luciano bringing out some vinyl copies he pressed only for himself, featuring a good bunch of obscure unreleased tracks. It was quite a sight to spot his own handwritten notes on the vinyls’ labels, instead of the usual colourful stickers with all the info. His makeshift titles included references such as “Perky Tool”, “Old School Groove”, “Set Closing” and “Dancefloor bomb”.

Bill Patrick and Cesar Merveille played B2B both before and after Luciano in the Main Room. Patrick, co-founder of the Robots parties and a long time revered NYC DJ, provided an upbeat and muscular set, so typically varied and touching on different genres throughout, the perfect match to Merveille’s stylish selection (with tunes from his Roche Madame label being the highlight of his set, delivering more that 2 hours of what he calls “food for the mind”).

Paris born and Berlin resident Cesar Merveille’s stylish warm up was the right follow up to Luciano’s vinyl extravaganza: with tunes selected from his Roche Madame label being the highlight of his set, he delivered more that 2 hours of what he calls “food for the mind”. Agreed 100% on that one.

More music in the Sunset Room last night by Chilean premiere chef turned House Music sensation Andre Butano: his style is very much appreciated as his sets are always directed towards groovy House and Tech-House sounds, supported by uplifting percussions and organic melodies. His own vocal tracks recorded specifically for each occasion (commenting on specific things unique to Chile’s scene and so on) are very popular amongst club-goers, and this showed up once more time last night.

Italian rising star Lino Pugliese is quickly becoming one of Cadenza’s fixtures these days: he’s releasing his Split EP with fellow Italian producer and Cadenza’s new hot name gAs today, and the 5 tracker has already gained amazing positive support from the DJ community. A stunning set from the guy yesterday, playing mood-setting pieces just as well as peak time genre-shifters. A great talent to keep an eye on.

The sets by Luciano, Carl Craig and Stacey Pullen will be highlights of Vagabundos next 9th August at Space Ibiza. ¡Tickets are already available!

The Voice of Glitterbox: Barbara Tucker

87499035 c0c0 4025 a08f 650f936cdfdd

Barbara Tucker is without doubt one of clubland’s all-time biggest and most successful vocalists.  Her golden tonsils have impacted on Dance music around the world on both a mainstream and underground level, best associated with legendary House label Strictly Rhythm but also gloriously tied to imprints King Street, Azuli, Positiva (EMI), suSU and Soundmen On Wax.

Where her voice has reached beyond the realms of underground House to other scenes, especially the emergent EDM one, it has always delivered soulful, emotive balance and ensured the varying, energetic productions beneath it actually mean something.  In a world dominated by the DJ and producer, Barbara Tucker is a rare example of the singer holding her own and ensuring top, quality billing.

Last night Barbara performed several of her biggest hits, including ‘Beautiful People’ and ‘Most Precious Love’ – to an ecstatic Glitterbox crowd. But what does she make of Ibiza in general?

Barbara, tell us about your experiences of Glitterbox so far this summer?

I’ve felt honoured to be a part of it.  It’s a wonderful party which a lot of people on the island have been talking about.  Me?  I’ve been performing there with DJ Q and mixing classic songs up, and that has been very well received.  Crucially, we get to be free.  It’s a fairly unique situation and great to see Ibiza, such an important Dance scene, supporting vocal, soulful house again.  I’m thrilled.

So what is your take on Ibiza today?

I live here every summer and this year is my 15th season on the island. In my opinion, the truly passionate people will always find a Glitterbox experience here if they really want to. Those amazing experiences are here but you have to look.  Otherwise, yes, there are always commercial parties around.  DJs you’d never heard of five years ago are now, suddenly, major names receiving up to 70,000 Euros a gig.  And these younger guys always have a team around them, marketing and preparing them.  It’s like baking a cake, a formula for driving forward new stars and, ultimately, financial gain.

Criticism of Ibiza’s commercialism has increased this summer – is the White Isle in trouble?

From a musical perspective, as I say, the great parties will always exist but the focus on business is stronger.  There are some fantastic new DJs but they also need a production outlet otherwise they don’t ever stand out.  A lot of the big new DJs only have one-hour sets into which they rigidly squeeze Top 10 hits and their own back catalogue.  That leaves no room for creativity; it’s all formula.  Some of these guys are not playing from the heart which is a shame.  When I perform with Q, we’ll bring a different set of ideas to each and every gig, and those might change again when we feel the audience.  Of course, giving people an emotional, spiritual experience is most important.

Do you have a view on your career thus far?  Is the impending anniversary occasion to reflect?

It was easier back then...when the labels were more artist-driven.  Today, there’s social networking and our industry is driven by fame not talent.  From a technology point of view, records are made by simply pressing buttons and looping - the emotions won’t come out like that.  I like to think I’ve maintained my own quality throughout my career.  I’m fairly unique, too, in being Strictly Rhythm’s longest serving House artist.  I’ve always been committed and will carry on that way.  When I retire I need to have a legacy to awaken and inspire future generations. I’m still on a mission.

So you feel there’s a lot more to do?

Yes.  And as God gives direction I will get there.  Some of these artists today are making huge amounts of money but they’re not nurturing the next generation, they’re focused on themselves.  That’s a short-term outlook, they’re likely to disappear as quickly as they arrived.  An artist like Frankie Knuckles, he nurtured and supported other artists in everything he did.  That’s why he had a street named after him and why he has been honoured in so many ways.  He has a powerful legacy and that’s worth far more than any money.
