El empresario Pepe Roselló entrega una escultura del artista Pedro Hormigo al dj Carl Cox como regalo de cumpleaños y por su contribución a la música durante décadas en la isla

En una nave situada en el Polígono de Montecristo se concentran los elementos más emblemáticos de la desaparecida discoteca Space. En esta especie de museo de la música electrónica se muestran los recuerdos de las cabinas del pinchadiscos, pósteres, fotografías, mechandising y premios a la mejor discoteca de mundo, entre otros elementos representativos de la laureada macrodiscoteca. En la sala de exposición de este monumento del dance y el house, el empresario Pepe Roselló reunió a medio centenar de amigos, productores musicales, djs de renombre, empresarios y antiguos empleados de Space para presentar una escultura en homenaje a uno de los mejores djs de todos los tiempos, Carl Cox.

El homenaje sirvió para ensalzar los tres pilares del don único que permite a las personas relacionarse y elegir a sus amigos: la amistad, la lealtad y el respeto. Estos elementos estaban representados en una escultura denominada 'La isla de la amistad', creada por el artista Pedro Hormigo por encargo de Pepe Roselló como regalo de cumpleaños a Carl Cox. La escultura en hierro fundido representa un soporte con el contorno de la isla de Ibiza con dos manos entrelazadas en un apretón de manos. «Eso es lo que me ha inspirado la relación de Pepe Roselló y Carl Cox desde que los conozco, simboliza la lealtad, la amistad y el compromiso con la música y con la isla de estos dos personajes», resaltó en su discurso el escultor.

A continuación, Pepe Roselló repasó emocionado los momentos de su especial relación con el famoso dj durante décadas y apuntó al carácter unificador de la música como vínculo de unión y forma de entender el ocio: «Ibiza ha acogido con tolerancia, respeto y amistad a todos los que han venido a compartir su vida, su arte y creatividad. Carl ha aportado su música, su pasión y su enorme fuerza para dar a conocer mejor la isla en todo el mundo a través de su música y todos lo hemos disfrutado. Hoy le hago entrega de esta escultura en honor a la amistad y la enorme lealtad que hemos compartido durante años».

Carl Cox agradeció a Roselló esta nueva muestra de su compromiso personal y profesional y analizó el momento que vive el ocio nocturno en la isla: «Ibiza es única y no hay otro lugar que se le pueda comparar, soy muy feliz aquí y estoy muy agradecido a Pepe y orgulloso de la relación fraternal que hemos mantenido. Me siento honorado con esta escultura que representa magníficamente los valores de la isla de la amistad», subrayó Cox quien la noche anterior dio un concierto en la discoteca Privilege al que asistieron 9.500 clubbers a lo largo de la noche.

El acto prosiguió con un vino español en La Nave de Space y una posterior cena para los asistentes en el restaurante Las Dos Lunas, donde el dj británico volvió a soplar las velas de una enorme tarta con el logo de Space.

El campo de Ibiza constituye uno de los principales valores del patrimonio de Ibiza, un paisaje singular y único en franca decadencia, que requiere de mucha más atención por parte de las instituciones. La historia de Na Bassona, un extraordinario y bellísimo olivo milenario situado en el Pla de Corona, pone de manifiesto que con un mayor esfuerzo por parte de todos, podemos inyectar vitalidad a un entorno que cada año se nos marchita un poco más.

La primera vez que enseñé Na Bassona a una personalidad relevante de fuera de la isla fue en 1976, coincidiendo con unas conferencias organizadas por el Consell Insular, entonces en periodo constituyente. El profesor don Amador Schiller, Rector Magnífico de la Universidad Complutense, llegó a Ibiza para participar en ellas. Quise aprovechar la oportunidad para acompañarle, junto a su esposa, a visitar el hermoso paraje del Pla de Corona, con sus almendros en flor, y rendir homenaje a este olivo antiquísimo que ya había identificado en la finca de Can Micaló, junto a una atractiva casa payesa que se encontraba en ruinas.

El árbol es una espléndida obra de arte de la naturaleza. Está formado por dos troncos nudosos y ensamblados, que se funden como si fueran mellizos. Esa es la razón de que sea conocido como Na Bassona. Con sus doce metros y medio de perímetro anclados en un terreno desnivelado, Na Bassona reina en un hermoso bancal que comparte con otros olivos hermanos, todos ellos pertenecientes a la misma época. Ejercen como testimonio de todas las culturas que han dejado su huella en Ibiza: fenicios, cartagineses, romanos, árabes y, finalmente, cristianos.

Cuarenta años más tarde, en 2016, tuvimos la oportunidad de regresar a Na Bassona, esta vez acompañando al prestigioso conferenciante Dr. Roig y a su esposa, también doctora, que se encontraban en Ibiza para participar en las Jornadas de Neumología que todos los años se celebran en el mes de mayo.

En esta segunda visita a Na Bassona, el panorama había cambiado radicalmente. Los chupones estaban literalmente devorando a su madre, que había sustituido el verdor y la exuberancia de sus hojas, por un manto semiseco, caduco y pardo, sin aliento. El olivo se estaba muriendo, olvidado y descuidado; se encontraba gravemente enfermo.

Decidí ponerme en contacto con su propietario, Juan Boned, ‘Micaló’, persona bondadosa, afable y muy conocida en la zona, para consultarle qué podíamos hacer para remediar una deriva que parecía inevitable.

Llegamos a un acuerdo: Space adoptaría este olivo milenario para tratarlo, cuidarlo y curarlo. Si la operación culminaba con éxito, su nombre, Na Bassona, estaría ligado en el futuro al de Space. Hoy podemos decir que este árbol único, que debería de estar catalogado como parte esencial del patrimonio botánico de la isla, ha recuperado su vitalidad y esplendor.

La iniciativa que emprendimos aún no hace dos años está directamente relacionada con la grave situación de abandono del campo de la isla: no se labra, no se abona, no se cuida, no se siembra, no se poda, no se restauran los muros de piedra seca, el campo se llena de vallados absurdos que parecen querer proteger no se sabe qué…

Estos olivos milenarios, testigos de nuestra historia y en muchos casos ignorados y abandonados, merecen que la administración inicie una campaña profunda, entonando un “mea culpa” por la desidia, ignorancia y falta de respeto hacia nuestro patrimonio histórico y natural.

Por eso, quisiera pedir al conseller de Agricultura que inicie un expediente para declarar esta joya Bien de Interés Cultural, de forma que su futuro quede garantizado y la iniciativa cunda en las familias y en la población.

De esta forma, es posible que aquellos que poseen olivos históricos y no disponen de medios, tiempo o conocimientos para cuidarlos, permitan que las personas que los aman puedan apadrinarlos y sanearlos, visitarlos de vez en cuando y disfrutar sus frutos antes de que se echen a perder en el suelo. Si esta idea de apadrinar olivos antiguos fuera apoyado por la máxima institución ibicenca, incluso se podría reconocer a aquellas personas que producen las mejores aceitunas y cuidan de forma óptima el árbol adoptado. Todos saldríamos ganando, incluido nuestro campo, que acabaría recuperando parte del esplendor de antaño.

For Space Ibiza On Tour visiting London a few times a year is always a pleasure and in fact, nothing would be the same without our trips to Great Britain.

On this occasion, the fact of having on Tour in Studio338 still made the date more special. Last year, due to an unfortunate fire, we were left without stepping on the club, but last November 25th we headed to London to be at night in a fabulous and renewed club: Studio338 promises a lot!

With the doors of the club just opened, the first fans of Space Ibiza were entering the new space, they did it in packs, so it is very little time the club was filled.

The first to take control was 6th Borough Project with Scotsman Craig Smith in the cockpit, followed by Camilo Franco, resident DJ of Space Ibiza.

The highlight of the night came with Tom Findlay the Groove Armada, who raised the audience's arms creating an incredible image. After him, it was the turn of Jon Rundell ... with the environment already heated, nothing could go wrong.

And with the decibels to the fullest, it was the turn of Brandon Block who never fails in terms of animating the audience ... they danced and sang all the songs that Block played.

After 27 glorious years at the very top of the dance music world, the end finally arrived for the worlds number 1 club at the end of last Summer.

On the 2nd of October 2016 Space Ibiza shut its doors forever with its very final 'closing fiesta' ....an epic party which echoed across the planet. Anyway Space Ibiza On Tour continues around the World

Meanwhile, in London a special relationship developed between the Space and Studio 338 families with some of the best shows in Greenwich being produced and masterminded by the Spanish gurus.

Sadly, this all came to an abrupt halt as Studio 338 was of course devastated by fire in August last year.

Well we are delighted to say that Space and 338 are reunited once more. A year of passion stored up and ready to explode in one colour filled night in the capital.

As you would expect this will be a rollercoaster of emotions, set amongst heart-stopping, trademark production spectaculars and soundtracked by our favourite Space DJ's and guests

This will be a party for the history books

DJ Mag has gathered in Space Warehouse Pepe Roselló (founder Space Ibiza), Juan Arenas (CEO Space Ibiza), Juan Arnau (elrow) and Nicole Moudaber (DJ), to discuss the changes in the White Island and talk about which ones are the challenges that Ibiza faces in terms of the culture of electronic music.

Pepe Roselló together with Juan Arenas have left to DJ Mag their new space SPACE WAREHOUSE (C / LLauradors, 43. Montecristo / Crta San Antonio-Ibiza) to host this DJ Mag initiative, where experts and industry stakeholders electronic music gather to discuss topics that affect the industry itself.

The debate will be broadcast through the Facebook pages of DJ Mag and DJ Mag Panels on Tuesday 10 October at 4GMT (17: 00h Spanish time). In addition, the full video of the debate can also be seen on the YouTube channel of DJ Mag.

La Cursa Popular de Sant Mateu se celebró en la isla el pasado domingo 24 de septiembre, día en el que el evento celebraba su décimo aniversario. 

Con un total de 378 corredores, Anass Bourass se impuso con facilidad desde principio a fin, en esta décima edición de la carrera y consiguiendo así, proclamarse campeón por segundo año consecutivo con un cronómetro de 23:37 minutos.

El atleta del CAP y que luce camiseta de Space Ibiza en todas sus carreras, se tomó la prueba como un entrenamiento y en declaraciones al Periódico de Ibiza afirmaba: "Me lo he tomado como un rodaje, im isquio todavía no está recuperado y no quería forzar". Este hecho es seguramente el culpable de que Bourass corriera 2 minutos más lento respeto al año pasado.

For Space Ibiza On Tour visit Scotland is always a good plan. We love the Scottish public and the scenery can not be more incredible. On 19 August we traveled to the Highlands, in particular, to Inverness. Surrounded by the very Loch Ness the night promised to be the most special.

Alongside the Groove Loch Ness festival, Space Ibiza On Tour landed on Scottish soil along with David Moreno, one of the most beloved DJs on the island of Ibiza and well known for his long collaboration with the radio station Ibiza Global Radio and currently, with his own frequency: Pure Ibiza.

Space and David Moreno would be in charge of closing the night of Groove Loch Ness 2017, putting the finishing touch to a magical night under the stars of Scotland under the headline: "Late night with Space Ibiza On Tour - David Moreno feat."

But before David Moreno took control of the booth, was the turn of headliners like Patrick Topping, who in a very short space of time has become a major part of dance music. It was followed by Skream the British artist, one of dubstep's most important pioneers, gave way to Faithless (DJ Set). What an energy has this woman! Covered by a glitter jacket did not stop dancing along her set ... and the public could not be more grateful.

At 00:00 came the turn of Space Ibiza On Tour and David Moreno, who for two hours did his best. At 02:00, unfortunately, the party had to end. The audience was putting their hands to the head and kept shouting "One more track".

Last Monday 14th August - and on holiday eve in Spain - Space On Tour traveled to Cullera (Valencia) to be part of the final of the Medusa Sunbeach Festival.

The Medusa Sunbeach is an International Electronic Music Festival held every summer at Playa de Cullera (Valencia). In this last edition the event, which was held from August 10th to 14th, again beat public record. A total of 185,000 people attended the call of Medusa.

The Space On Tour party took place at Oasis Beach and specifically at the Kai Lio a beach bar that cannot be better located, right in the middle of a huge beach.

At 18:00 Eduexploited & Mootiv started the party and also the tranquility of the bathers who enjoyed the beach, yes, good music never bother anyone. Derek Muller took control of the cabin and more.

At 22:00 the beach could not be more crowded and just then Los Suruba enter the scene with their versatile House and the audience begins to go crazy. What a good roll!

After Los Suruba the legendary DJ and producer Wally Lopez, besides one of the artists more we recognized in Spain, did raise his arms to the public rhythm of his House.

Tommy Paone and Marko Kay suddenly behind the mixer, yes they are NEVERDOGS the duo that was born in Florence years ago, right now is in Cullera giving everything with good doses of Tech House.

A public rather than delivered and the beach full of good vibes ... entered the last stage of the day with Stefano Noferini, one of the veterans of the House artists in Italy and that best takes on the new market Beatport.

04:00 and the curtain closes. End the Space On Tour party. It finishes a new edition of the Medusa Sunbeach Festival and the thing, has not been able to go better. Thank you Medusa! Thanks to all of you who were there! We will be back next year for more!
