CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF ROUND THESE PARTS, THE WORLD DOESN’T ACTUALLY REVOLVE AROUND DANCE AND ELECTRONICA, AND TO PROVE IT, WE INTERVIEWED SAUL HUDSON, A.K.A SLASH, UNDOUBTEDLY ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITARISTS OF ALL TIME. CURRENTLY ON THE ROAD, HE EXPLAINS THAT AFTER HIS CURRENT TOUR FINISHES , HE’LL START WORKING ON HIS NEW ALBUM, DUE FOR RELEASE IN 2012. SO FAR THIS YEAR, HE’S VISITED IBIZA THREE TIMES - AND DRESSED IN MORE THAN JUST HIS BLACK LEATHER TROUSERS.

Long live Rock n Roll! Does it really last forever?
I suppose so, it depends– you have to pace yourself.

What’s the formula for creating the perfect hit?
There is no formula to create a hit that I know of. I think that it’s a magic combination of inspiration, words and melody.

I’ve been to the beach a few times with rockers who’ve remained fully dressed in all their black leather finery right there on the sand, under the sun?! What do you wear on the beach? Do you keep your leathers on?
I actually intended to go to Ibiza with nothing but my leathers but my wife talked me into bringing some shorts.

At a recent fancy dress party, my partner-in-crime dressed up as Slash. Who would you dress up as?
I’d dress up as me too!

Talk to us about love and passion...
I’m passionate about a lot of things. Life in general, especially music and art. And animals and believe it or not, people.

Who in particular?
My kids and my wife, my friends and my family. My band mates.

Which of your guitars are you most crazy about?
There is one special guitar that I own that I guess you could say I’m in love with.

One of how many?
I have roughly 100 guitars.

Tell us about your favourite place to holiday?
I don’t really have a favourite holiday destination, I very rarely take holidays. But saying that I’ve been to the island three times this year already; it would probably be Ibiza.

What does Slash do in his free time?
Any free time I have, I´ll most likely use for something work-related, I spend most of my time involved with music in some way, shape or form. But I also spend free time with my family or sometimes I’ll go to the track and race cars.

Tell us your music plans at the moment and for the future...
I’m right in the middle of a tour at the moment and then my plans are to get back into the studio and make another record that will go out next year.
