Space Ibiza & Nico Vila win the seconde race of the Balearic Karting Championship Featured

The second race of the balearic karting Championship took place at the Sa Coma semi permanent track, with total distance of 450 metres. Under unstable sultry weather 29 teams met, with only one participant as “alevín”, son of the event organizer Marcelo Torres continued his tutorship. Among “cadets” the intense mourning between Resoagli and Riveiro was resolved in the last round when Riveiro kart suddenly stopped giving opportunity to the other to take the trophey home by just a few points. It´s worth mentioning that despite Riveiro´s kart being the only one with a hired engine offered an amazing exhibition in driving skills, fitness and courage and very unfortunate for the local pilot. In the Open category, the best was Albert Coll, who best adapted to the terrain thus, easily taking the lead.
In the Queen Category KZ2 (125cc with gears), rivalry was intense, Ivan Huelamo rushed through the ibizan terrain reafirming the pole position, however it didn’t do him much good since he was later disqualified due to an ilegal hit in the second round, according to the director, when he was running in 5th position due to having refueled during the race. Nico Vilá with new chassis and sponsored by Space Ibiza, had his ups and downs in the first round where he was unable to overtake Huelamo despite having closely chased him during 20 laps and in the second round he rivaled against Toni Alarcón, after having been comfortably ahead, due to severe problems with his gearbox which made him loose between 2 and 3 decimals per lap, never the less, he succesfully managed to keep second position and won the race by best average of the two rounds. Consequently the podium was taken by Nico Vila, Toni Alarcon and Matias Gornes. Worth mentioning was Jaime Alguesuari´s, Toro Rosso F1 pilot, who assisted the event on Saturday watching the pilots train and on Sunday as representative giving out the tropheys.
