Space Ibiza 26th Anniversary: one more year making history

What a great way to celebrate our 26th Birthday yesterday! A heck of a party by the Vagabundos crew, with Luciano’s roaring set being the icing on the cake for the night!

Back in 1989, our dear friend and mentor Pepe Rosello took over this establishment in Platja d’en Bossa and quickly turned it into one of the best clubs in the world.

Proof of this, Space Ibiza went on to win the title of “Best Global Club” at the International Dance Music Awards in 2005, 2006, 2012 and 2013. Having reached out to new territories, Space these days has opened a franchising of clubs in New York, Moscow and Menorca, always delivering the highest quality in Music and Sound.

The Cadenza man gave his 110% yesterday with a set full of melodies and catchy grooves for the special occasion: a selection that ranged from his iconic ‘Bomberos’ track to his renditions of Nils Frahm’s masterpieces, it went down a storm in the club’s Main Room, now officially Vagabundos’ room of choice at Space Ibiza. Ovum owner Josh Wink delivered his usual stylish vibes and trippy atmospheres, the highlight of his set being a contemporary re-work of his classic tune ‘Higher State Of Consciousness’.

Cadenza’s rising talent and Nordstern Basel resident Gianni Callipari warmed up the room early on to great effect: his deep, synth-infused melodies were spot on for the time he hit the stage. Throwing in some still unreleased material from his upcoming Cadenza EP was a great move: the crowd gave an enthusiastic response to the tracks, so things are looking good for the young DJ and Producer right now.

Big happy times in the Terrace as House Music legend Erick Morillo headlined the night there: the ‘I Like To Move It’ star rocked the dancefloor as usual, cracking out some old favourites and some super summer anthems mixed with some dirty House in between.

Get Physical’s own M.A.N.D.Y.’s trademark hook-driven and late 70s German Electro-inspired Tech House was a winner too last night: the duo gave a wild performance that spiced up the vibe in the room, with the people on the dancefloor clearly having a blast. Their remix of Marc Houle’s Business released on Minus was the top track of their set by far.

Los Refrescos’ (a.k.a. Dandy Jack and Argenis Brito) association with Vagabundos dates back to the very early days of Cadenza and Luciano’s career: embodying the sound of Latin America’s House and Techno, the duo brought these influences over to Europe through the Berlin scene, sowing the seeds of what became almost a genre in itself. Having them on stage in the Sunset Room last night was a truly unique experience.

Swiss sensation Ezikiel performed in the Sunset Room as well: the Jamaican born DJ delivered a tribal set mixed with some Dub sounds and Blue Beat rhythms. It goes without saying that the crowd loved it, everyone with a big smile on their face.

Vagabundos’ adventure continues at Space Ibiza on August 2nd with LucianoBill Patrick and more artists. Buy your tickets and welcome the hottest month dancing to the best electronic music.
