It’s a big week for Glitterbox – and for Ibiza in general – as the mighty Hercules & Love Affair stepped out onto the White Isle for the first of their live shows, promising to elevate the glitz and glamour of Space’s Friday night party to ever higher levels of disco-fuelled excitement.

The band's two sensational live performances helped define Glitterbox’s debut season last year, making this week’s event one of July’s most eagerly anticipated shows. And with appearances from Aeroplane, Horse Meat Disco, Simon Dunmore, Luke Solomon, and DJ Antz thrown into the mix, expectations were sky high for what is quickly becoming Ibiza’s favourite new residency.

Warming things up on the Terrace, two house music veterans Simon Dunmore and Luke Solomon were going back to back. It was a real treat to hear these guys digging deep into the house and disco vaults and on the Space soundsystem it sounded simply incredible!

The Italian-Belgian producer Vito De Luca – better known as Aeroplane – has established himself as party-starting DJ and remixer du jour with his spacious cosmic disco re-rubs of Grace Jones ('William’s Blood'), Friendly Fires ('Paris') and Sebastien Tellier ('Kilometer'), as well as via his own piano-sprinkled melancholic beauties like 'Caramellas'. His set cranked the party up a notch, with a noteable highlight being his new ‘Come Back Baby’ released under a new alias, Flush. From the reaction it received on the night, it’s likely that this could be one of the big records this summer.

So the stage was – quite literally  - perfectly set for the appearance of Hercules & Love Affair, and boy did they come out firing on all cylinders! Their energy is something else to behold laying waste to the club with the unequivocal Glitterbox anthem ‘Do You Feel The Same?’. Andy Butler ripping his shirt off and performing topless for the remainder of their set only served to further enflame what was already a sizzling performance.

Horse Meat Disco were a fitting follow up to the on-stage freneticism of Hercules, laying thick, bouncing disco basslines and soaring vocals to an exhausted  but determined crowd.  By the time the last beat was dropped and we stumbled out into the morning sun, it was fair to say we’d been well and truly Glitterbox-ed.

Another amazing spectacle where the music and performances go hand in hand. Buy your tickets for Glitterbox at Space Ibiza and experience another unforgettable night with The Magician, Joey Negro and other artists the next Friday 10th July.
