One month into its summer 2015 residency on the Island, Cadenza Vagabundos celebrated its 4th gig last night at Space Ibiza with a cult lineup that included some historical figures of the european House movement. Sophisticated music for the very knowledgeable crowd was played all around the club well into the early ours of this morning, making this party a very welcome diversion from what is usually heard here. Once again, Luciano and Space Ibiza’s rule-changing and innovative artistic vision paid off big time, upping the ante for what’s to come in the next months.
Next Wave Ibiza debuted their collaboration with Vagabundos last night: the celebrated promoters and event organizers served up some of the finest talents on their roster. The Main Room was graced with an exquisite set by Soul Capsule, a.k.a. Baby Ford and Thomas Melchior. One of the founders of the UK Acid scene, Ford’s seminal minimalistic Techno experiments were the perfect match to Melchior’s (the German Micro House maestro) stripped back deep sounds. Their breakthrough classics “Overcome” and “Lady Science (NYC Sunrise)” proved to be timeless tunes.
More names from Next Wave in the Sunset Room: Bucharest’s underground rising star Cezar and E/Tape’s cosmic mind affairs created the perfect soundscapes for that environment, with
Milan’s Asso Spades rounding off the night.
Argy’s warmed up the Vagabundos room with his usual flare and super stylish presence. His recent Dominonation album on BPitch (with Berlin’s singer Mama) was a stormer: bringing UK Rave and Garage/2 Step to the next level, the pair’s Hacienda and 90’s R’n’B influences helped craft a true contemporary musical gem that appealed to numerous different audiences, from MJ Cole fans to (guess it) Ibiza’s party people. The guy knows how to make you dance, and last night the vibe was on fire since the beginning of the festivities.
Audiofly’s Luca and Anthony have accumulated unparalleled experience through their endeavours and continue to put everything into maintaining their careers at the highest level.
After a chance meeting in 2002, the two men have established a creative empire, which includes two record labels (Supernature and Maison D’Etre), a global party brand (Flying Circus) and fashion. Last night’s performance was another confirmation of their talent, both as DJs and as true entertainers, always keeping contact with the crowd.
No rest for Luciano, indeed: after a double gig on Saturday (Awakenings and Madrid’s 4every1 Festival), the Cadenza head honcho went on behind the deck full of energy and drive. Highlights of his mix included his masterpieces Orange Mistake and Bomberos, which sent the people absolutely bananas. One more for the books, for sure.
