The documentary Ibiza – Occident premieres Spain
Written by Administrator    Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:16    PDF Print E-mail

Ibiza – Occident , an interesting documentary presented at Space last September with all the players, artist, media and friends, continues to collect great criticism and has been selected to 19 international festivals in different countries. This feature film, directed by Günter Schwaiger, was filmed in Ibiza and reflects the reality of the night and clubber culture in the island of Ibiza by the vision of different characters and relevant people of the island.

On January 10th premieres the film in Austria with a big party with Cristian Varela in the Flex, the most important Club of Vienna.
In Spain it will be released on January 27th in Madrid.
In Ibiza on February 17th at Cine Serra.
In April at Germany

Here are collected some of the published criticisms:

An visually rich and involving film.” (Ein schöner und fesselnder Film/Una película visualmente rica y cautivadora) Hollywood Reporter

Diverting, sleek and pretty.” (Spaßig, elegant und schön/Divertida, elegante y bonita) Variety

Complex, beautiful and enigmatic” (Vielschichtig, schön und rätselhaft” / “compleja, bella y enigmática) Paul Ingendaay, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung

Amazing.! Don’t miss it! (Grossartig! Unbedingt anschauen!”/ “¡Maravillosa! ¡No hay qué perdérsela! “) Heinz Reich, Fm4 radio

A loving and exciting tribute to an island…” (“Eine liebevolle und mitreissende Huldigung an eine Insel…” / un homenaje cariñoso y electrizante a una isla…”) Gini Brenner , Skip Magazin

Storied isle of excess Ibiza is anthropologized in Ibiza Occident, an involving doc by Austrian Günter Schwaiger that covers the island's history from many angles… in a visually rich film which could ride its subject's renown to a respectable niche theatrical run…” Hollywood Reporter

Diverting, sleek and pretty.” (Spaßig, elegant und schön/Divertida, elegante y bonita) Variety

Gunter Schwaiger's "Ibiza Occident: 9 1/2 Music Stories" takes a diverting…peek behind the inebriative surface dazzle of the island of Ibiza, Europe's longtime party capital, offering different takes on paradise as occupation, lifestyle, creative passion and big business. Colorful package should particularly appeal to programmers slanted toward dance/club culture and vacation hot-spots, with TV and download the likeliest markets...” Variety, Dennis Harvey

A fascinating glimpse of hedonistic thrills.” (Una visión fascinante de emociones hedonista/ Ein faszinierender Einblick in hedonistische Nervenkitzel) The Gazette Montreal

It seems that Montreal may have some serious competition as the planet’s reigning party capital. Turns out that Ibiza, the Spanish island paradise, has become the Hollywood of techno music and, as such, clubbers from around the globe have been flocking there for their dancing and sinning pleasures…” The Gazette Montreal, Bill Brownstein

Un regard sur les coulisses de l'île espagnole” (A look behind the scenes of the Spanish island/Una mirada detrás de las cortinas/Ein Blick hinter die Kulissen) Métro Montreal, Jessica Émond-Ferrat

Images nocturnes saisissantes” (Atemberaubende Bilder der Nacht/ A night out with stunning pictures/ Una noche con imagenes impresionantes) Le Devoir Montréal

Sydney loves Kehakuma
Written by Administrator    Tuesday, 17 January 2012 17:19    PDF Print E-mail

The Greenwood Hotel, a legendary location for open air events, couldn’t have been a better location to host the first ever Kehakuma party outside of Space Ibiza. On January the 1st, 2.500 electronic music aficionados attended one of Sydney’s most sought after events. The lineup was simply exquisite and never seen before in Sydney, ranging the whole spectrum of Kehakuma’s music policy. From Jef K’s deep house to Radio Slave’s techno, going through Seth Troxler’s own brand of house, a true musical journey was lived through the entire event. The doors opened at midday on a hot summer day with local Sam Roberts who after a nice warm up set gave the commands to Seth Troxler, the event’s heavy weight.
The Detroit native delivered an impressive set of house music that included some of Visionquest’s released material as well as old school blended sounds, all of them quality. After 2 hours of Troxler’s set and Matt Cahill’s performance, Parisian Jef K took over the commands. He possessed the audience with “Jack” himself: rough and groovy beats full of catchy vocals and the crowd followed with a huge smile jacking their bodies as the event deserved.
Eddie Richards was next, London legend proved why he’s been at the forefront of electronic music for so many years and, as many people agreed, was the highlight of the night. A 2 hour set full of powerful beats.

Playing after Eddie and keeping the high level of energy seemed a difficult task but UK and now Sydney’s underground player Gary Todd handled the situation perfectly. After more than 9 hours of partying the crowd seemed as hungry for beats as at the very beginning and, lucky enough, the event’s second heavy weight was not going to let them down: Rekids boss Radio Slave was on top of his game, his techno infused selection took the event to a whole other level as the moon was showing up.
Last but not least, Kehakuma resident artist Remo, had the honor to close a party that will be for sure remembered. To close an event with such talented artists billed is not an easy task but Remo is no stranger to the game, he proved why he has a deserved place at Kehakuma every summer; his tech house set was the ice on the cake for the World’s premiere of Kehakuma’s international tour.
